Informatics Sports Day 2007 |
29 June 2007 |
Informatics’ sports day this year saw many important guests and VIPs enjoying themselves as our students partook in games and track & field events at the Clementi Stadium.
The event was opened by Informatics CEO Mr. Val Ortega followed by a speech by the Guest of Honour Mr. Kevin Wong, Executive Director of the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC).Ambassadors and high-ranking officials from the embassies of Bangladesh, China, Malaysia, Mauritius and Philippines watched on from their VIP stand as the sports events rolled out. |
 |
Our student athletes displayed outstanding sportsmanship as they competed in field events like discus, shot put, javelin, high jump and long jump, while the Chinese and Nigerian students dominated the badminton, basketball, street soccer and table tennis tournaments.
Students grew increasingly excited as both students and lecturers ran against each other in the field events. They roared as the SDSC wheelchair athletes displayed their professional stances in wheelchair racing. |
 |
The cheerleader routine was also a big hit with the spectators, led by Informatics Student Council (ISC) member and Overseas Student Association (OSA) President Ayesha Erasmus.
The event wrapped up with a friendly soccer match between Informatics and the SDSC disabled athletes. The very kind people from Reflex-O, a leading sports equipment distributor, then presented the SDSC disabled athletes with a high-end stationary bicycle, to enhance their regular training sessions.
Student spectators were treated to refreshments throughout the event, kindly sponsored by Gardenia and New Water. |
